Dear MYSversians,

I am writing to personally address a recent incident regarding our IP Protection processes, the actions we have taken, and the lessons we are applying to strengthen MYSverse for the future.

MYSverse was built on trust, creativity, and respect. When these principles are challenged, we must respond with transparency, professionalism, and a commitment to doing better, not only for today but for the long-term health of our community.


What happened

Recently, our IP Protection (IPP) Team conducted an investigation that led to the temporary blacklisting of a group due to suspected intellectual property infringement. This decision was made based on evidence available at the time, including direct confirmation from an original asset creator.

Following an appeal and the submission of additional evidence, we conducted a full re-evaluation. This included side-by-side template comparisons and consultations with the relevant creators.

We determined that while similarities existed, the assets in question did not constitute direct theft.

As a result, the blacklist was lifted, and the group was reinstated. This outcome reflects our commitment to fairness, thoroughness, and the principle of correcting our course when new information justifies it.


About the case handling

It is important to be clear.

The caseworker assigned to the original report acted properly by following the procedures we had at the time, consulting with the asset creator and making a decision based on the information available.

However, this case exposed areas where our processes can and must be improved.
We are enhancing our evidence requirements, requiring clear side-by-side verifications, and ensuring that all investigation discussions take place in official, logged channels to maintain transparency and accountability.

Good faith actions are important, but strong and consistent systems are what protect fairness and community trust.

One of the most concerning aspects of this incident was the harassment directed at the caseworker who managed the original investigation, as well as the unauthorised leaking of confidential information from our internal channels.

Let me be very clear.

Harassment has no place in MYSverse.

The breach of confidentiality that compromises investigations and endangers the safety of our team members is equally unacceptable.

These behaviours reflect not only on the individuals involved, but also on the communities they are associated with. When members of a community engage in harassment or leaks, it damages their reputation, undermines their credibility, and calls into question their willingness to operate in good faith.

We openly acknowledge that mistakes were made in our investigative process.

We are addressing these issues transparently, professionally, and with a commitment to improving our standards. We welcome constructive criticism, and we are implementing changes to strengthen how future cases are handled.

However, harassment, intimidation, and breaches of confidentiality are absolutely unacceptable, regardless of circumstances. Any individuals or communities that tolerate or endorse these behaviours should not be associated with MYSverse.

We expect all communities involved to cooperate respectfully and uphold the same professionalism they expect from us. Failure to do so will be seen as complicity, and we will act to protect the integrity of MYSverse accordingly.

This situation also highlighted the critical importance of properly managing conflicts of interest.

Allow me to preface this by saying we welcome and support our members’ engagement with the wider Roblox community - unity is strength, as Malaysia's national motto goes.

However, when investigations involve groups that individuals are affiliated with, it is essential that they recuse themselves from participation and commentary.

Failure to manage these conflicts not only jeopardises investigations but also damages the reputation of both individuals and the communities they represent.

Trust, discretion, and professionalism are not optional at MYSverse. They are mandatory standards. Those unable to meet these expectations are encouraged to step away respectfully and amicably.

Although the initial appeal was presented in a confrontational manner, we stayed true to our principles.
We evaluated all the evidence objectively, reassessed the situation carefully, and corrected our decision based on facts rather than emotion.

From this experience, we are in the process of introducing several improvements:

  • Strengthened standards for evidence verification before enforcement actions.
  • A formal dispute review process for appealed cases.
  • Reinforced confidentiality protocols.
  • Clear expectations regarding recusal for conflicts of interest.

Fairness at MYSverse is not a slogan.

It is an everyday practice that we will continue to uphold and improve.

Throughout this situation, we chose to act transparently, correct errors where they were found, and raise the standards that guide our community.

Mistakes are inevitable. What defines a community’s character is whether it acknowledges its flaws openly and commits to genuine improvement.

We will continue to raise our standards, protect our volunteers, and safeguard the trust that the MYSverse community has placed in us.

Our volunteers and team members balance significant real-world commitments alongside their responsibilities at MYSverse.

While we strive for timeliness, delivering a correct and fair decision is always more important than rushing to closure.
