Platform support at MYSverse: Putting mobile and PC first

MYSverse is going mobile-first to reach more players across Malaysia and SEA, while continuing to support PC and explore VR and console accessibility. No one gets left behind!

Platform support at MYSverse: Putting mobile and PC first

We've been thinking a lot about how you play our games. Whether you're driving in Lebuhraya, exploring Bandaraya, or joining community events, we want your experience to be smooth, fun, and easy to access. Today, we want to share where we are focusing our game support and why it's so important.

Mobile and PC will continue to be our main focus, and we're excited to keep building great experiences for these platforms!

Why mobile and PC are most important

Mobile gaming highlights per Statista

In Malaysia and across Southeast Asia, mobile gaming is incredibly popular. Most players here use their phones first when they want to play. In Malaysia alone, mobile games are expected to earn over USD 313 million this year.

By 2027, there could be nearly 9.5 million mobile gamers in the country (source: Upstack Studio). Across Southeast Asia, more than 80 percent of people in cities who use the internet are mobile gamers (source: BizAsean).

This means we can reach a very large audience if our games work perfectly on mobile phones!

PC gaming is also very important to us. In fact, when we started our community back in 2014 as [MYS] Malaysia, all our games were for PC only. That was during our "ro nation" era. Back then, things like vehicles, weapons, combat, and even drill and marching tools were all controlled using keyboard commands and older systems. Even now, our MYSverse Sim roleplay communities, like Bandaraya, still use these same systems.

For a long time, we focused on PC because we had limited resources and specific goals. When we started Lebuhraya to reach more players, it was a big challenge to make it work on other devices.

We're happy to say we're making good progress so that everyone can enjoy our games, no matter what device they use. Nobody should be left out!

From now on, we will design our future flagship games with mobile phones in mind first. This way, anyone with a decent phone can easily join in and start having fun!

Our progress with console and controller support

We also know that some of you use consoles when a phone or PC isn't available. If that's you, we hear you loud and clear.

Right now, our console support is limited. You can already connect a controller to your PC or mobile and try some features, but full console versions of our games are still being developed.

Here are the main challenges we are working on:

  • Navigating menus with a controller feels awkward.
  • Switching between moving your character and using the game's interface isn't smooth yet.
  • Some older systems in our games were never designed for gamepads. This includes:
    • the firefighting minigame
    • police tools like tasers and radar guns
    • the system for placing furniture in homes

We want your experience on consoles to feel natural and not frustrating. Until we can make everything work smoothly, console support will stay limited. We appreciate your patience as we work to improve it!

Our dreams for VR

We're excited about how virtual reality (VR) could create new ways for learning and interactive events.

Here are a few ideas we're thinking about:

  • Virtual driving school
    • Imagine a realistic simulator where you can learn traffic rules, practice turning, and check your mirrors before you drive on a real road!
  • Safety checklist in Lebuhraya
    • You could inspect your bike or car, test your brakes, and check your mirrors in first person, just like in real life.

VR could be amazing for virtual fairs, safety demonstrations, and educational experiences. We know that VR headsets are still not very common in Malaysia. So, we will also offer these features on mobile and PC, using different methods that work well for each device.

A balanced plan for everyone

Here is our plan for the future to make sure no one is left out:

Design for mobile first

We will focus on phones because they are the most popular devices in our region.

Continue strong PC support

We will keep providing richer features, better graphics, and precise controls for desktop players.

Explore VR with a clear purpose

We will use virtual reality for special training, demos, and events. We will always offer an alternative for phone or PC users.

Grow console support gradually

Gamepads already work on PC and mobile. We will launch full console versions when they feel just right and are easy to use.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Every decision we make is based on your feedback and our shared love for gaming. We can’t wait to show you what’s coming next. Stay tuned, and we’ll see you in the game!

Terima kasih from all of us at MYSverse!
